Career/Technical Education (CTE) Statistics

Most Recent Secondary/High School Level Tables

This section provides tables on career/technical education (CTE) at the high school level. Most tables focus on CTE in public high schools or taken by public high school graduates only. Consequently, these data may not match similar data in other NCES reports that include both public and private school students. See the glossary for more detail on the high school populations included and definitions of variables. Tables based on data prior to 2005 use the 1998 Secondary School Taxonomy to define CTE. Tables based on more recent data use the 2007 revision to the CTE component of the Secondary School Taxonomy. To see how the new CTE categories link to the Career Clusters and to the taxonomy used for postsecondary education, view the secondary taxonomy crosswalk.
