The
Office of Justice Programs, Bureau
of Justice Assistance (BJA) announces the Edward Byrne Memorial
Discretionary Grants Program which assists local communities in improving
the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support
efforts including training and technical assistance programs strategically
targeted to address local needs. Funds can be used for demonstration,
replication, expansion, enhancement, training, and/or technical assistance
programs. Eligibility: Faith- and community-based

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
- National Juvenile Justice Programs
The Office of Justice Programs, Office
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), has announced
it is seeking applications for funding under the FY 2007 National Juvenile
Justice Programs. The purpose of this program is to provide support
to programs that have a national scope and national impact on combating
juvenile delinquency, reducing the victimization of children, and improving
the juvenile justice system and support OJJDP’s mission to provide
national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond
to juvenile delinquency and victimization. Eligibility: Faith-
and community-based organizations are eligible to apply. Deadline: June

- In-Prison Re-Entry Training Program – Solicitation Notice

The Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) has announced it intends to award a number of contracts for the provision of residential re-entry programs for inmates at one or more pilot site institutions. The purpose of the residential re-entry program is to facilitate personal behavioral and attitudinal change for those inmates who volunteer, and as a result, to reduce recidivism. Faith-based and community-based organizations may submit proposals equally with other organizations for any of these contracts. Office for Victims of Crime
- HOPE Grants
The Office of Justice Programs, Office
for Victims of Crime (OVC), announces the availability of funding to
grassroots community-based and faith-based victim service organizations
and coalitions to improve outreach and services to crime victims through
support of program development, networking, coalition building, and service
delivery. HOPE stands for “Helping Outreach Programs to Expand. Funds
may be used to develop program literature, train advocates, and recruit
volunteers. HOPE funds are one-time awards for up to $10,000. Eligibility: Eligible
applicants include organizations (including faith- and community-based)
and coalitions operating for at least 1 year which have not received federal
VOCA victim assistance grant funding. Deadline: None

- New E-Publication Highlights Faith-Based Victim Assistance
"Building
Victim Assistance Networks With Faith Communities" (NCJ 215201)
offers information for victim service providers seeking to engage faith
communities in serving crime victims. This publication focuses on lessons
learned from the Faith Community Initiative developed through the OVC-funded
Vermont Victim Services 2000 demonstration project.
