Mississippi National River and Recreation Area
The Project

At the reconstructed frontier fort, the Society would like to modify some spaces for classrooms and add restrooms adjacent to the parade grounds. In the area of the Cavalry Barracks, Ordnance building and Cavalry Stable, the Society is proposing to remove the existing visitor center, rehabilitate the exteriors of the four historic buildings, modify the landscape and construct a new, modern-looking visitor center. The August 30, 2007, report by the Society provides a general overview of the project.
