Foxtail Sedge (Carex alopecoidea)

Description: Herbaceous perennial, 1.5-3' tall. Leaf blades 3-8 mm wide, often exceed the stem. Inflorescence spike-like, 2-3 cm long, staminate flowers located above pistillate ones. Flower scales oval-triangular, awns to 2mm long. sheaths tight, purple-dotted.

Habitat: Wet meadows and streamside willow-sedge communities.

Flowering and fruiting June-July.
