National Exposure Research Laboratory Mascot, EPA


	EP is a desert tortoise who has been adopted as our mascot. He is learning how to protect the environment, and he wants to show you how you can help, too.

One motto the United States Environmental Protection Agency
uses in its effort to face environmental threats is:

"Think Globally . . . Act Locally"

Globally,
EP's shell is symbolic of the Earth.
His shell plates represent the continents and how they are interrelated.

Locally,
EP is an endangered species
and he depicts how fragile our environment really is.

EP may be methodical, but he always wins the race.
He will succeed in meeting the environmental challenges confronting him.
