Alliance Program's Small Business Roundtable

Through the Alliance Program, a number of the Program's participants came together to participate in a Small Business Roundtable. During the Roundtable meetings, OSHA provided the Alliance Program participants an opportunity to work with the Agency to address safety, health and compliance assistance resources for the small business community. In addition, the Roundtable participants reviewed and provided OSHA with feedback on compliance assistance resources and OSHA's On-site consultation programs the Agency developed for small businesses. Following is information on the Roundtable meetings that were held on September 8, 2005 and February 1, 2007.

Alliance Program's Small Business Roundtable, September 8, 2005

The Alliance Program Small Business Roundtable was convened to gather input from Alliance Program participants on how OSHA could improve the Agency's compliance assistance resources and programs for the small business community. At the Roundtable meeting, OSHA and the Program participants discussed:
  • OSHA's Small Business Initiative (SBI)
  • Compliance assistance elements of the Agency's (SBI) including:

    • Training
    • On-site Consultation Program
    • Printed material
    • Web based tool
  • Development of resources to effectively reach the small business community and inform it of the compliances assistance materials and programs available from OSHA

Alliance Program Small Business Roundtable, February 1, 2007

The Alliance Program Small Business Roundtable was convened to review promotional materials and tools that OSHA designed in response to the recommendations made during the Roundtable meeting on September 8, 2006. The resources and materials discussed included:
  • OSHA's Introduction to OSHA for Small Businesses Short Course
  • University of South Florida's SafetyFlorida On-site Consultation Program's Consultation Connect (ConNect)

    • ConNect is a kit designed to help small businesses learn about consultation and offers downloadable print and electronic resources for promoting consultation to small business. ConNect includes four marketing products.
  • OSHA's Web site navigation tool.
