WASHINGTON, D.C.

Announcement Number: 08-CRM-GSU-045

Application Deadline: April 1, 2009

About the Office: The threat of gangs and gang related violence has increasingly become a national, and sometimes international, problem. Instead of functioning as small, isolated groups, gangs have become more organized and their reach often crosses district, state and national borders. Gang members now have connections to other countries and are increasingly traveling to and from the U.S., bringing contraband and new gang recruits with them. The Division has identified the need to broaden its efforts in combating gang related crime. The Division’s Gang Unit has the expertise and dedication to do just that. Gang Unit prosecutors work hand-in-hand with the National Gang Targeting, Enforcement, and Coordination Center (GangTECC) and the National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC). This combination of prosecutors, investigators and intelligence analysts comprehensively targets and coordinates multi-jurisdictional and international gang investigations and prosecutions and develops strategies to disrupt and dismantle these organizations.
