AG's Honors Program Participating Components

2009–2010

The components listed below will formally participate in the 2009-2010 Honors Program. Actual hiring is subject to availability of funds; however, the components estimate that they will fill the number of positions listed below. Any additional eligibility criteria specified by a hiring component are effective at the time the application opens (July 25, 2009). Applicants must meet Honors Program eligibility requirements for all positions listed below.

Drug Enforcement Agency (Administrative Law Judges)
The DEA hires for 1 year judicial clerkships. These are not prosecutorial positions. Individuals hired as law clerks may reapply to the Honors Program in a subsequent year for permanent positions in other components provided they meet eligibility criteria.

Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)
EOIR hires for 1-2 year judicial clerkships. Individuals hired as law clerks may reapply to the Honors Program in a subsequent year for permanent positions in other components provided they meet eligibility criteria. U.S. Citizenship required.

The Bureau of Prisons hires for 2-year fellowships.

U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California
Interviewing in Los Angeles, CA
Hiring for Offices in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, or Riverside, California.
Open only to eligible applicants who are law school graduates who are already admitted to a bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) or who have taken a bar exam (results pending in fall 2009). Current law students are not eligible and will not be considered. Candidates must be admitted to practice before entering on duty. Current law students are not eligible to apply. Assistant U.S. Attorneys must become admitted to the California bar. U.S. Citizenship required.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California
Interviewing in San Diego, CA
Open only to eligible applicants who are law school graduates who are already admitted to a bar (any U.S. jurisdiction). Current law students are not eligible and will not be considered. The Southern District of California hires for 2 year term appointments that may lead to permanent employment. Assistant U.S. Attorneys must become admitted to the California bar. U.S. Citizenship required.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico

Open only to eligible applicants who are law school graduates who are already admitted to a bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) or who have taken a bar exam (results pending in fall 2009). Current law students are not eligible and will not be considered. Candidates must be admitted to practice before entering on duty. Current law students are not eligible to apply.

U.S. Trustees Offices
These are permanent positions that may be offered at the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST) in Washington, DC; or with 21 regional U.S. Trustees Offices; and 95 field offices nationwide.
