Consolidated Asset Tracking System (CATS)
Data Quality

The CATS Data Quality Team was established by the Asset Forfeiture Management Staff (AFMS) to ensure the consistency and accuracy of data that resides on the CATS database; to provide assistance to the user by identifying, and resolving data issues; and provide support to the annual audit process, by improving the material correctness of data used in financial statements. The CATS Data Quality Team continually monitors CATS data and is proactive in its efforts to inform agencies of problems, and provide direction and assistance in their resolution.

The CATS Data Quality Team works to reconcile CATS data with official documentation located in offices across the country. On-site reviews of selected offices are conducted on an annual basis to ensure that the quality of data is maintained. The current objective is to conduct on-site reviews of each of the 94 judicial districts. The CATS Data Quality Team develops reports that provide benchmark data for use by managers of participating agencies in monitoring the quality of data for which this office is responsible.
