e-Learning, Satellite and Correspondence Course Opportunities
  • The National Advocacy Center (NAC) is operated by the Department of Justice, Executive Office for United States Attorneys. The facility was built to train federal, state, and local prosecutors, litigators and support staff in advocacy skills and management of legal operations; more than 20,000 are expected to train annually. Three training organizations are located at the NAC. Programs for federal government personnel are provided by the Office of Legal Education of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, and by the National Bankruptcy Training Institute of the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees. Programs for state and local prosecutors are provided by the National District Attorneys Association. The calendar for courses can be found on the internet and the JUSTLearn online course tracking system. OLE broadcasts daily programs over its satellite broadcast system – the Justice Television Network (JTN).

  • National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Institute is headed by a Director appointed by the U.S. Attorney General. A 16-member Advisory Board, also appointed by the Attorney General, was established by the enabling legislation (Public Law 93-415) to provide policy direction to the Institute. NIC provides training, technical assistance, information services, and policy/program development assistance to federal, state, and local corrections agencies. What’s available? Management, Leadership and specialty training for staff of state and local corrections throughout the U.S. and its commonwealths and territories. Training for juvenile justice, Federal prison system, and military corrections personnel through interagency agreements. NIC also provides leadership to influence correctional policies, practices, and operations nationwide in areas of emerging interest and concern to correctional executives and practitioners as well as public policymakers.

DOJ Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Operated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), learnATF provides Bureau employees with access to a wide-range of learning and development opportunities. This includes more than 1,500 online courses and performance support services including learnATF Books, learnATF Abstracts and Live Help. ATF employees can also register for in-person training, request external training and manage their Individual Development Plans through the learnATF site.

The Drug Enforcement Administation (DEA) operates DEALS which provides online courses and training administration for DEA employees.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) employees have access to FBI Virtual Academy, an internal Intranet based Learning Management System, for online courses and training administration through FBINET. Learners must have access to FBINET to use the FBI Virtual Academy.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) employees have access to BOP-Learn, an internal Intranet based Learning Management System, for online courses and training administration through BOPNet. Learners must have access to BOPNet to use BOP-Learn.

Justice Management Division operates learnDOJ which provides online courses and training administration for DOJ Components including Antitrust Division (ATR), Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), Community Relations Service (CRS), Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), Justice Management Division (JMD), National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Violence Against Women (OVW), U.S. Marshall Service (USMS), U.S. Parole Commission (USPC) and other Department of Justice (DOJ) Senior Management Offices (SMO).

The JUSTLearn system employs an online course management system to support dissemination of classroom course information, permit electronic enrollment into, and administration of, classroom courses, well as provide course materials and videos for employees to use at their desktop. JUSTLearn’s access audience consists of the United States Attorney’s Offices, Executive Office for United States Attorneys, and the DOJ litigating divisions and other DOJ components. This allows JUSTLearn users in all participating DOJ components to view OLE programming and mandatory DOJ training "on demand" at their desk. JUSTLearn users can also track their training after viewing a JTN or VOD program so it is automatically added to their training transcript. There are more than 330 programs available through VOD; which also includes our weekly "Week in Review" videos that highlight the important work done by USAO's each and every day.
