     WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Department of Justice Community Relations Service (CRS) Director Sharee M. Freeman will speak at the Domestic Terrorism Conference, "Domestic Terrorism – From Detection to Response," in Tampa Florida on May 5, 2004 at 8:30 a.m.. The conference is sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Community Relations Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and the Florida Regional Community Policing Institute.

     The conference will be held on May 5, 2004, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Hotel, 6200 Courtney Campbell Causeway, Tampa, Florida. The sessions open to the media are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Media credentials are required.      Approximately 300 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers and officials from six southern states are expected to attend the conference on domestic terrorism and extremism. National and local experts will conduct law enforcement workshops on: Debriefing and Recruiting the Extremist, Information Technology in the Fight Against Terrorism, the Rise of Left-Wing and Single-Issue Groups, Different DNA-Indicators, Red Flags and Information Gathering in Extremist/Terrorist Investigations, and Main Event: Maintaining Order at Extremist Rallies, Marches and Protests.
