Occupational Safety & Health Review Commission

The Occupational Safety & Health Review Commission (OSHRC), an independent Federal agency that decides contests to citations or penalties resulting from OSHA inspections of American work places, functions as an administrative court. The Review Commission has established procedures for conducting hearings, receiving evidence and rendering decisions by its Administrative Law Judges (ALJs).

OSHRC's Rules of Procedure also includes information about E-Z Trial procedures. Guides to the Review Commission's procedures and E-Z Trial procedures are included in the OSHRC Publications section.

OSHRC decisions of both the Administrative Law Judges and the Commissioners can be obtained online. ALJ decisions cover 1993-present and are in alphabetical order by the case name. Commission decisions cover 1972-present and are in either alphabetical order by the case name or chronological order by the final order date. The years with cases in chronological order cover approximately 1972-1992 and the years with cases in alphabetical order cover approximately 1993-present including 1983 and 1991.

Note: The Review Commission also uses the Government Printing Office (GPO) to create a CD-ROM publication entitled "U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission Decisions." The most recent disk available is dated August 2005, and covers decisions from January 2003 through August 2005. The disks provide the ability to search Commission decisions by keyword from 1972 through August 2005 and Administrative Law Judge decisions from January 1993 through August 2005.

If you want to order any of these disks, you may call the Superintendent of Documents at 202-512-1800 or fax that office at 202-512-2250. Be sure to provide the title in the first paragraph, including "U.S." To date, 14 CD ROMs are in print. The master stock number is: 752-038-00000-7. You may also use these CD ROMs at the OSHRC Public Information Office, 1120 20th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036.
