Environmental Technologies Market Research

A combination of minimal industrial production, low population density and high winds has contributed towards Uruguay being labeled a "natural" and clean country. Notwithstanding, the country still suffers from the effects of uncontrolled vehicle emissions, lack of adequate household connections to the wastewater grid, and insufficient garbage collection and disposal services. A booming forestry industry and the construction of two major pulp plants have recently raised concerns among "environmentalists." The generation of energy from clean sources is a high priority for the current Government. Uruguay has few regulations on solid waste management (except medical waste) and air pollution. Other areas are well covered by suitable laws and regulations.
