2004-2005 The Department is pleased to announce the awarding of $1,655,665 in grants for the FY 2004 and FY 2005 Even Start Family Literacy Program Grants for Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations. Expert peer reviewers reviewed applications submitted by the closing date of April 11, 2005.

The Department made a total of eight awards to the following: Owens Valley Board of Trustees (California); Four Winds of Indian Education (California); White Earth Reservation Tribal Council (Minnesota); Rock Point Community School (Arizona); Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (Michigan); Local Indians for Education, Inc. (California); Choctaw Nation of Ouzinkie (Oklahoma); and Pala Band of Mission Indians (California)

2003-2004

The Department is pleased to announce the awarding of $1,974,867 in grants for the FY 2003 and FY 2004 Even Start Family Literacy Program Grants for Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations. Expert peer reviewers reviewed 36 applications submitted by the closing date of April 2, 2004.

The Department made a total of nine awards to the following: Iswa Children, Youth & Families (South Carolina); Tate Topa Tribal Schools (North Dakota); Rosebud Sioux Tribe Education Department; Utah Navajo Development Council (Utah); San Pasqual of Mission Indians (California); Rincon Indian Education Center (California); Stone Child College (Montana); Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chipewa (Minnesota); and Fort Peck Community College (Montana).
