American Customer Satisfaction Index Methodology

The FY 2008 Grantee Satisfaction Survey is a measure of customer satisfaction administered to state educational agencies that are responsible for oversight of selected Department formula grant programs as well as relevant stakeholders. This is the third year of the survey and includes project directors for eight Department programs and for EDEN/EDFacts Coordinators and the Chief State School Officers. Programs surveyed since FY 2005 include Title I, Title III, Educational Technology, Adult Education and Literacy, Career and Technical Education, and Special Education and Early Intervention. Title V, Part A was added in 2006.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) is the national indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of goods and services. It is the only uniform, cross-industry/government measure of customer satisfaction. ACSI has measured more than 100 programs of federal government agencies since 1999. This allows benchmarking and provides information unique to each agency on how activities that interface with the public affect the satisfaction of customers.
