    The "FOIA Guide" is an extensive discussion of the Act's exemptions and its procedural aspects that is prepared by the Department of Justice's Office of Information Policy.
  • Your Right to Federal Records (2006)
    This pamphlet is a joint publication of the Department of Justice and the General Services Administration concerning both the FOIA and the Privacy Act.
  • A Citizen's Guide to the FOIA (2005)
    A guide to both the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act prepared by the House Committee on Government Reform.


  • FOIA Post
    An online replacement for FOIA Update, established by the Office of Information Policy in 2001.
  • FOIA Update
    A newsletter containing FOIA information and guidance for federal agencies that was published by the Office of Information Policy from 1979-2000 (all issues compiled and keyword searchable).


    The Office of Privacy and Civil Liberties (OPCL) has primary responsibility for Department of Justice privacy policy. Accordingly, Privacy Act guidance is no longer published by the Office of Information Policy. Privacy and civil liberties resources, including the text of the Privacy Act and the Overview of the Privacy Act of 1974, are now available on OPCL's website.
