August

8/4/08
The FCC engineers will conduct White Space Device tests for detection of wireless microphones on Aug. 9th (Saturday) and during the week of Aug. 11th. On August 9th, the tests will be performed at the FedEx Field in Landover, MD starting at 10:00 AM and will continue through to 8:00 PM. The tests at an entertainment venue are planned for the week of Aug. 11th in NYC in the Broadway district. Specific times and dates will be announced later. The tests at both venues will be conducted before and during live performances. For security and logistic reasons very limited attendance will be permitted at both sites. 8/1/08
The FCC engineers will perform tests in the Myersville – Wolfsville area (Sites 7, 8, 9 and 10) starting Monday (August 4, 2008) and continue to Thursday (August 7, 2008). The current plans are to start tests at 11:00 AM on Monday (August 4, 2008) at Site 10 (see below) followed by Sites 9, 7 and 8 on subsequent days. It is expected that tests on the other days will start around 9:00 AM.

July

7/28/08
The field tests at Site 5 (FCC Offices at 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, DC) will be conducted on Tuesday (July 29, 2008). The engineers will perform initial tests in Room TW-C488 starting 9:30 AM. This room is accessible to public after security check. Additional tests are planned in Conference Rooms 4B-516 and 7B-112 (escort required to access these rooms; please ask the FCC staff in Room TW-C488 for details).

Tests at Site 6 are planned for Thursday (July 31, 2008) to start at 9:30 AM. Please contact Rashmi Doshi (301 362 3011) to obtain the address and pre-register to attend.

7/17/08
The FCC Engineers will conduct field tests today (July 17, 2008) at Site 2 (Thomas A. Dixon, Jr., Aircraft Observation Area (BWI Airport), Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, MD). The tests will start at 9:00 AM. The engineers will go back to Site 1 (Patapsco Valley State Park (Avalon Area), Elkridge, MD) on Friday (July 18, 2008) to finish some remaining tests.

Tests at Site 3 and 4 will be conducted on Tuesday (July 22, 2008) and Thursday (July 24, 2008) respectively. The tests will start at 9:30 AM on each day. These test sites are private residences. Please call Rashmi Doshi (301 362 3011) to obtain specific addresses and pre-register to attend.

7/11/08
The field testing of the TV White Space Devices will commence on Wednesday (July 16, 2008) at 9:30 AM at Site 1. It is expected that tests will proceed to Site 2 on Thursday. The test schedule may have to be adjusted in case of inclement weather or unexpected delays at the sites. In that case the tests will continue on Friday.

Patapsco Valley State Park (Avalon Area), Elkridge, MD Follow direction to entrance on Route 1 and then to the marked parking area. (Please note that this is a Maryland State Park and there is a nominal entrance fee.)

6/27/08
The Laboratory has received a prototype from I2R and plans to conduct bench tests on the device starting Monday (June 30, 2008). The current plans are to conduct tests till Wednesday (July 2, 2008). The planned tests include DTV and wireless microphone sensing capabilities of the device.


May

5/23/08
The Laboratory plans to conduct bench tests starting at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, May 14 2008. The bench tests will be performed on a second device to be delivered by Motorola. It is expected that testing will continue on Thursday and Friday (if necessary).

April

4/14/08
During this week (April 14 - 18, 2008), the FCC engineers plan to continue the review of data collected so far and plan for the next phase of testing.

4/4/08
No tests are planned during the week (April 7-11, 2008). The engineers plan to review the measurement data and develop plans for the next phase of device testing. Further test plans and schedules will be announced on this web page.


March

3/28/08
The Laboratory plans to continue testing of the Adaptrum device on Monday March 31, 2008. This will include characterization of the transmitter. Plans for future tests will be announced during the week. Currently there are no plans for tests on Friday (April 4, 2008).

3/14/08
Bench testing of devices for sensing in the presence of DTV signals in adjacent channels will continue from Monday (March 17, 2008) till Thursday (March 20, 2008).  The tests will be conducted on devices from Adaptrum, Microsoft, and Philips.  In addition, the Laboratory plans to complete transmitter characterization for devices with such capabilities.  Currently there are no plans to test on Friday (March 21, 2008).

3/7/08
The Laboratory will continue bench testing of devices Tuesday (March 11, 2008) until Thursday (March 13, 2008). The current plans are to start DTV sensing tests for devices in the presence of DTV signals in adjacent channels. The tests will be conducted on all the submitted devices from Adaptrum, Microsoft, Motorola and Philips. Currently there are no plans to test on Friday (March 14, 2008)

2/29/08
On Monday (March 3, 2008) the Laboratory is expecting to receive the device from Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) of Singapore.  The Laboratory will conduct single DTV channel sensing tests of the I2R device from Monday till Thursday (March 6, 2008).  Currently no additional wireless microphone sensing tests are planned during the week.


February

2/22/08
The bench testing of the Microsoft devices will continue on Monday (February 25, 2008). Following that additional test will be performed on the Motorola device during the week. In parallel, the Laboratory will continue testing the Philips device for wireless microphone sensing. No tests are planned for Friday (February 29, 2008).

2/15/08
The Laboratory will perform bench tests from Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2008) until Thursday (Feb. 21, 2008). The current plans are to complete tests of the Adaptrum and Microsoft devices with RF captures. In addition the Laboratory will commence testing of the Philips device for wireless microphone sensing once the tests with the Microsoft device are completed. Please note that Monday (Feb. 18, 2008) is a Federal Holiday.

2/8/08
The Laboratory plans to continue bench tests on the various devices starting Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) until Thursday (Feb. 14, 2008). The current plans are to perform additional tests on the Microsoft and Philips devices for wireless microphone sensing in presence of DTV signals. In addition tests on DTV sensing will continue on Philips, Adaptrum and Microsoft devices. These tests will include sensing performance with RF captures.

2/1/08
On Monday February 4, 2008 at 9:00 AM the Laboratory will begin bench tests on the devices from Adaptrum. This device will be tested for DTV signal sensing using a single DTV signal. In addition, the Laboratory will continue testing of the Philips, Microsoft and Motorola devices for remaining bench tests including Wireless microphone detection as appropriate.

The Laboratory expects to continue these tests until Thursday February 7, 2008.
