MISSION STATEMENT |
|
The primary mission of the libraries is to
provide information services to all Department of Commerce employees
and offices, other federal agencies, and the public.
|
|

SCOPE |
|
The collection consists of books and periodicals in the following
subject areas or categories: law; business; economics; international
trade; management; telecommunications; CD-ROM products;
congressional documents; and online resources. The Library is a selective
government depository. |

SERVICES |
|
|
|
REFERENCE |
|
The library staff provides
reference assistance to Commerce employees, assists in locating
appropriate resources, and holds training sessions on the library
collection and databases. |
|
|
|
ONLINE CATALOG |
|
Books and periodicals are
accessible through the library catalog by author, title, or keyword. Links to special collections and databases are located in the
left hand column of the homepage.
|
|
|
|
CIRCULATION |
|
Commerce employees may borrow books from the circulating
collection for four (4) weeks. Most items may be renewed in
person or by telephone.
The libraries reserve the right to recall materials at any time.
|
|
PHOTOCOPYING |
A photocopier is available in the libraries
for government employees.
|
|
INTERLIBRARY LOANS |
|
Materials not available in the collection may be borrowed for Commerce employees from other libraries or information centers. Generally, reference books and periodical issues are not available for loan. The library must observe the circulating policies of the lending library.

|
The libraries maintain a
selective collection of U.S. Census data in print, microfiche, and
CD-ROM. Digital
