My six-month internship with the U.S. Commercial Service, Sacramento Export Assistance Center has been a whirlwind of information and experience. During my six months I was not an intern, but a part-time employee for the U.S. Commercial Service. Handling the specific needs of each client I participated in a number of activities such as, conducting market research, preparing emails to U.S. Commercial Service Specialists and Foreign Agricultural Specialists, and drafting best export opportunity lists or market implementation lists for the client from the results of my market research.
Furthermore, I was privileged to attend events with the Northern California World Trade Center and the California Legislature Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy where I learned the importance of networking. I developed close relationships with clients, coworkers and my Director during my six months. Overall, my internship has given me a broader outlook of international community and into the workings of international trade. I am going to miss the everyday challenges I was faced with during this internship, but in turn I am leaving with lasting friendships and knowledge.
