This workshop was for those who were new or uninitiated to using or selecting gas detection/measurement instrumentation for monitoring environments for toxic or combustible gases to insure personal or personnel safety. The workshop covered the basic selection criteria and operation of various gas detection/measurement instrumentation. There was also a chance to see various types of instrumentation during a hands-on demonstration by OSHA personnel. This presentation explained the theory of gas detection techniques used in portable instruments. It identified some of the advantages and disadvantages of each technique.
