Privacy Policy
- DOJ will protect personal information against unauthorized access,
destruction, use, modification, or disclosure, including maintaining a
record of the identity of the agency and person accessing and disseminating
the information in accordance with the Privacy Act.
- DOJ will limit the sharing of information to the fulfillment of a stated law
enforcement purpose (i.e., for the identification and pursuit of suspected
criminals, to bring offenders to trial or to protect the safety of law
enforcement officers).
- DOJ will train its employees on privacy protection requirements and
conduct periodic privacy and security audits.
To meet requirements of the Privacy Act of 1974 and the e-Government Act
of 2002, DOJ is required to perform several reviews to ensure that
sensitive and personally identifiable information is well managed and
protected. A Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), a System of Records Notices (SORN) and a full security certification/accreditation was conducted for OneDOJ and its infrastructure environment to meet this requirement.
See DOJ's Office of Privacy and Civil Liberties for more information.
Security Policy
DOJ considers the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security policy as a baseline standard for protecting sensitive law enforcement information. DOJ will operate and maintain the OneDOJ system in accordance with the CJIS Security Policy and we expect our partners to comply as well.
