The first of 25 North American antennas has been formally accepted by the Joint ALMA Observatory in Chile. This will enable ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, to soon link signals between two antennas and begin testing of interferometry.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
