Cascades Frog, Rana cascadae

| The Cascades Frog is a medium sized frog attaining lengths of up to 3 inches. They are usually some shade of brown with black markings on their dorsal surface often well defined as in the specimen above. The spots on the dorsal surface do not always show up, however, as in the specimens below. However, they usually do have a dark mask that runs from the tip of their snout to their forelimbs much like the Wood Frog (Rana sylvatica). |

| Here is a newly metamorphosed Cascades Frog for size comparison. The Cascades Frog is a mountain frog and is found in a small band from the Cascade Mountains in northern Washington down through Oregon to the edge of California. There are some scattered populations found in northern California and one near the coast in Washington. |
