Previously Convicted Indianapolis Sex Offender Sentenced to Prison in Child Pornography Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sean Osborne, 26, of Martinsville, Indiana was sentenced to serve 15 years in federal prison and a lifetime term of supervised release, after pleading guilty today to one count of distributing child pornography and one count of attempting to receive child pornography, Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher of the Criminal Division and Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana Timothy M. Morrison announced today.

Court and plea documents showed that Osborne was previously convicted in 2002 on an Indiana state charge of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor. The investigation in this matter established that between February and March 2007, Osborne used a computer within his local public library to distribute multiple sexually-explicit images of children to an undercover law enforcement agent through the internet and also attempted to purchase additional child pornography from the agent through the U.S. Mail.

The case was prosecuted jointly by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven DeBrota for the Southern District of Indiana and Trial Attorney Elizabeth M. Yusi of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the United States Secret Service, with assistance from the Department of Homeland Security’s Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Martinsville, Indiana Police Department, and the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
