CRYSTAL ROBERTS NAMED DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL AND PUBLIC LIAISON

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales today announced that Crystal Roberts has been appointed Director of the Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison. In that office, she will serve as the Attorney General’s chief liaison with local and state governments, law enforcement, and other outside groups and organizations.

“Crystal has done an outstanding job as Deputy Assistant Attorney General, and I am pleased that she will continue to serve with excellence as Director of the Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison,” said Attorney General Gonzales. “She has worked tirelessly with members of Congress, their staffs, and congressional committees on many issues of critical importance to the Department. With her knowledge and experience, she will continue to build on our cooperation with state and local governments and our partners in the law enforcement community.”

Roberts has served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legislative Affairs since December 2003. Prior to joining the Department, she served as counsel and later chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, from May 2001 to December 2003. From August 1997 to April 2001, she was with the Legal Studies Department of the Family Research Council.

Roberts is a graduate of Denison University and received her law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.
