The Lower Great Lakes Fishery Resources Office (LGLFRO) worked with local Girl Scout troops, Air and Waste Management Association, and the Amherst Conservation Advisory Council to plant trees at Dann Lake Park on April 25, 2009.  Dann Lake Park is a 172-acre protected natural area located in a rapidly developing section of Amherst, NY.  Prior to plantings, LGLFRO staff demonstrated the importance of diverse plant communities and planting techniques to scouts and community volunteers.  300 bare-root trees and seedlings were planted by over 40 scouts and volunteers to increase plant diversity and enhance 2 acres of wildlife habitat.
