Journal Entry   Back Iowa DNR and Partners Receive a $1 Million NAWCA Grant Midwest Region, March 11, 2009 Print Friendly Version On March 11, 2009, the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved a $1 million grant under the North American Wetland Conservation Act (NAWCA) for a project called Prairie Lakes III Wetland Initiative.  The NAWCA requires, at a minimum, the grant amount be matched with non-federal contributions.  This is typically accomplished by partners from State, Tribal and other non-governmental organizations.  In this case, non-federal partners contributed $2.2 million and an additional $1.5 million was contributed by federal partners.
