Northeast Region, March 13, 2009
Print Friendly Version
The visitor services review team spent 3 ½ days on the refuge to asses the entire visitor Services program at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge as part of the  refuge's Comprehensive Conservation Planning process.  Team members included Janet Butler, Visitor Services Manager, Ohio River Islands NWR; Art Webster, Chief of Visitor Services, Edwin B. Forsythe NWR; and Andrea VanBeusichem, Visitor Services Manager, Montezuma NWR.  The first day of the visit consisted of a self-guided tour of the refuge followed by a meeting with refuge staff to compile information regarding opportunities and issues from the staff's viewpoint.  That afternoon and the following morning refuge manager and visitor services staff took the team on tours of the refuge to further discuss opportunities and issues related to public use on the refuge.  The review team also met with the board of directors and officers of the Friends of Iroquois NWR, Inc.  A Draft Visitor Service Review was presented to refuge staff on the last day of the visit which addresses the issues and opportunities identified and offers recommendations for improvement.
