Sport Fish Restoration funding for motorboat access on Lake of the Ozarks
Midwest Region, February 18, 2009
Print Friendly Version
Lake of the Ozarks is the second largest reservoir in Missouri and one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Midwest.  The lake has relatively few public fishing and boating accesses and all are heavily used.  Wigwam School Access is being constructed in Morgan County on the north side of Lake of the Ozarks.  Access construction includes a concrete entrance road and parking area large enough to handle 59 vehicles and trailers, an overflow lot large enough to handle another 30 vehicles with trailers, a two lane concrete launch ramp, courtesy dock, fish weighing platform, privy, concrete walkways, and security lighting.  All facilities are designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.  The access is expected to be completely open in March 2009.  Total project cost is $1.2 million, with 75 percent funding through through the Dingell Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act.
