USFWS collaborates with local college science class
Midwest Region, February 12, 2009
Print Friendly Version
As part of its "Environmental Science" class, the Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota, has invited the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to discuss a variety of natural resource issues and the day-to-day work that the Service does to conserve fish and wildlife resources.  Dave Warburton, Twin Cities Ecological Services Field Office, provided an overview of environmental toxicology principles and water quality issues to the class February 12, identifying how chemicals in our aquatic environments can affect fish, wildlife, and plants.  He also described some of the projects the Service is working on in Minnesota through our Environmental Contaminants (EC) Program to prevent contaminant problems and to restore habitat harmed by toxic pollution.  Good questions from, and discussions with, the students provided a great opportunity to help this next generation further understand and appreciate the Service's conservation mission and responsibilities.
