Journal Entry   Back Wallkill River National Wildlife RefugeBriefs Community Leaders on Expansion, Gas Pipeline Northeast Region, February 3, 2009 Print Friendly Version Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge manager Edward Henry made an evening presentation at the Sussex-Wantage Library to community leaders, focusing on Wantage Township, and refuge neighbors about the soon-to-be approved refuge expansion and the process surrounding a proposed expansion of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline, which will pass through the current and expanded refuge. The presentation included a formal talk and a question and answer session. Main talking points included opportunities for refuge access, the NEPA process, and the Service's land acquisition policies. The event also included a presentation by the Friends of Wallkill River Refuges inviting the community to participate in Friends sponsored events on the refuge and on how to get more involved in refuge-related activities.
