NOAA Fisheries staff from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute are conducting seal population surveys in southern New England for the 2008/2009 season.  During these surveys gray seal pups are spotted and counted from the air.  Gray seal pups are generally born on South Monomoy Island in the months of January and February.  These pups were photographed on January 20th, 2009.
