How do you turn something bad into something useful?  Marie Springer, president of the The Friends of Wallkill River can show you!

Twenty people attended and spent three hours designing and creating their own wreaths and holiday decorations.  All materials were collected in advance by members of the Friends group.  The projects were created using both invasive and native species. The purpose of the class was to teach people how to make something beautiful and useful out of something undesirable such as oriental bittersweet and multi-flora rose, milkweed, pine cones and phragmites.

Those who attended the event took their creations home along with a new-found understanding of invasive plants and how they affect the habitat.
