South Texas Ambrosia (Ambrosia cheiranthifolia) Annual Monitoring at Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX
Southwest Region, October 22, 2008
Print Friendly Version

Corpus Christi Ecological Services Field Office (CCESFO) staff, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists, and a Texas A & M University botanist assisted the Naval Air Station Kingsville (NASK) team with the annual monitoring effort of the endangered South Texas Ambrosia.  The Teams completed the delineation, GPS mapping and stem counts on the 25 known sites at NASK plus the new site that was documented and mapped during the 2007 survey.  This effort completes the fifth year of monitoring following the development of a management plan by the Navy, with the assistance of the Service, for this endangered plant.  The Navy, in coordination with CCESFO will be developing a summary report reviewing the survey efforts and results to date, and make recommendations for future monitoring.
