Annual Operating Plan (AOP) Public Meetings Held in Missouri
Midwest Region, October 23, 2008
Print Friendly Version
The Army Corps of Engineers held a public meeting in Jefferson City, Mo.,on Oct. 15 to brief the public about their operation plans for the mainstem Missouri River system during the 2009 operating year.  Under the current water conditions, it is likely that both spring pulse flow events will occur.  Corps personnel gave presentations on system operations explaining to the public under what water conditions these experimental flows would occur.    The public was primarily concerned about levee damage that had occurred during the spring and summer of 2008 and how these increased flows events might impact Missouri residents.  Project Leader Tracy Hill, Branch Chief for Missouri River Studies Wyatt Doyle and Fish Biologist Clayton Ridenour attended the meeting representing the Fish and Wildlife Service.  Service personnel were in attendance to answers questions raised by the public concerning fisheries and habitat modification work that is ongoing on the river.
