Brad Bortner, Migratory Bid Chief for Regions 1 and 8 and Beth Huning, coordinator for the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture joined Your Call In Show” host Rose Aguilar for an hour on October 6 to talk about birds and Bird Migration in the Bay Area and California.

Asking “How can birds and humans coexist?”, this segment of  Your Call, explored the adventurous world of bird migration and what role humans play in preserving these seasonal voyages. Each fall, millions of birds travel south compelled by changes in food availability, habitat and weather. Healthy waterfowl habitats are critical for this passage to remain uninhibited. The San Francisco Bay Joint Venture (SFBJV) is one of eighteen Joint Ventures established under The Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It brings together public and private agencies, conservation groups, development interests, and others to restore wetlands and wildlife habitat in San Francisco Bay watersheds and along the Pacific coasts of San Mateo, Marin and Sonoma counties.  The San Francisco Bay Estuary is the nation's second largest and perhaps the most biologically significant estuary on the Pacific Coast.
