Members of Windom Cub and Boy Scouts volunteered on National Public Lands Day to remove invasive cedar trees from a site to be converted to natives.  Twenty volunteers spent 2 hours Saturday afternoon walking the site and cutting woody vegetation. Most of the invasive trees were eastern red cedar and the scouts removed trees from about 12 acres.  Supplies and support for the activity was funded through the Invasives with Volunteers grant program.  Scouts also used GPS units to map the unit and track the number and location of trees removed.  Scouts also hand harvested grass and forb seeds for planting on disturbed sites on the WPA.
