This August San Bernardino NWR gave the Sonoran Desert Museum twenty-one Yaqui beautiful shiner that are to be used as breeding stock and part of a native fish of Arizona display.  The Yaqui beautiful shiner is one of four federally-listed fish species that the refuge has the lead for recovery.  The Refuge does not have the facilities or the staff to house a breeding program on site, so the Museum’s willingness to do this will greatly help in the recovery of this species.
