Rerturn to Prairie Day at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center

Friends and family ventured out to the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center for a Party on the Prairie, as the Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary, the Grand Opening of the Center’s new Education Wing, and the 75th Anniversary of the Duck Stamp at Return to Prairie Day on Saturday, August 9.

Horse drawn wagon rides to scenic prairie and wetland sites brougt visitors to over a dozen artists demonstrating their talents and allowed visitors to try out materials as welll. Wildlife and nature photographers, watercolor and oil painters, carvers, woodworkers, pencil sketching, music and dramatic readings will all helped visitors discover the subtle beauty and fascinating life of the prairie.

Visitors could tour the new Prairie Wetlands Learning Center Education Wing, and have a piece of birthday cake as the Center celebrates its 10 year anniversary. The Minnesota  Junior Duck Stamp Display was enjoyed by many, and visitors learned about the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Small Wetlands Program and the Duck Stamp through displays and borchures. Many children’s activities were going on throughout the day.

Nearly 500 people attended the event, and the weather provided a perfect day for a Party on the Prairie.
