A total of 57 pronghorn were present within the breeding enclosure (pen) by the end of May.  In addition to the 25 fawns born earlier this year, two additional fawns were birthed during the morning of June 22.  The doe associated with these two fawns is itself a yearling that was born during 2007.  It is too early to tell how these latter two fawns will affect the sex ratio of the 2008 cohort which otherwise stands at 15 males and 10 females.  Even these numbers may change as the facial markings on the youngest fawns become more distinct.  The 2008 fawns cohort is split between the north half (now 15) and the southwest quarter (12). 

During a telemetry flight on June 15, a radio collared doe was found dead on the west side of the Bryan Mountains.  Upon further inspection from the ground the following day, the cause of death appeared to be a bobcat based on remaining visible sign. Data from the June 15 flight also confirmed that the last remaining buck of the group of five released earlier this year, had joined up with a group of wild pronghorn that were just south of BMGR within the refuge on the west side of the Growler Mountains.

Three of the five bucks released this year drowned in an irrigation canal during late May and the fourth buck has not been observed via radio telemetry or otherwise since March 30 during expanded search attempts and is believed to either be deceased or has a dysfunctional radio collar.  This buck was last observed along the northwest edge of North Tac within the BMGR and is believed to be the individual that crossed Highway 85 on at least one occasion.
