Volunteer Hannah Edwards assists Fish Biologist Wayne Talo with end of the month sample counts at Jordan River NFH

Hannah Edwards, an 18-year-old from Greenville, Mich. is volunteering at Jordan River National Fish Hatchery (NFH) for a second summer.  She is currently a sophomore at Michigan State University studying fisheries and wildlife.  She had an excellent first year and was named to the Dean’s List, her favorite class being Great Lakes Biology & Management.  She felt like she knew what was going on in class (i.e. Great Lakes) because of working here last summer.  Tim Smigielski was her mentor here last summer.  She is excited about coming back to the hatchery to learn more about feeding and growth, space management, and distribution, among other things.  She will be working under the guidance of Fisheries Biologist Wayne Talo.  Hannah thinks the volunteer program at Jordan River NFH will definitely give her a great amount of experience in fisheries biology.
