The Spencer F. Baird returned to its home port in the late afternoon on June 15, 2008. This marked the end of stocking season for the lake trout production fish from Jordan River NFH, Iron River NFH and Pendill's Creek NFH. The final days of stocking ran smooth with clear skies out of Harbor Beach, Mich. The last stocking site was Port Austin/Grindstone City on June 14^th. After all the fish were released, the Baird and her crew traveled on up the coast to Alpena and then on to the home waters of Cheboygan. Another successful and safe season finished. Next, the Baird travels to Escanaba, Mich. for dry dock and maintenance.

This was my first stocking season at Pendill's Creek NFH and as a boat rider for the Baird. I would like to thank the crew for always getting my home safe and showing this Vermont native what a Great lake really is. It was a pleasure riding with you.
