Journal Entry   Back Connecting People with Nature at the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Outdoor Expo Southwest Region, March 30, 2008 Print Friendly Version The Arizona Ecological Services Office (AESO) participated in the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Outdoor Expo, a three-day event held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix.  The first day was dedicated to school groups and teachers, with approximately 800 school children and adults in attendance.  The second and last days were open to the public, when 26,000 people were estimated to have attended the event.  The AESO created and staffed a booth focusing on the Let's Go Outside FWS initiative.  The booth provided space for children to construct binoculars out of construction paper (approximately 200 were made), fish for magnetic fish in a small pool, and learn about creative ways to spend time outdoors, including how to make a bug jar, plant press, and memory jar.
