Green Bay Field Office Biologist Gary Van Vreede provides archery instruction to participants at Wheelin’ and Reelin’ outdoors events.

Green Bay Field Office biologist Gary Van Vreede recently joined individuals from the Green Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Fisheries Forever, Trout Unlimited, Great Lakes Sport Fishermen, and Outdoors Without Limits, to provide an outdoor experience to handicapped individuals and underprivileged kids in the Green Bay area.  Event activities included fishing and archery.  The fishing took place on a lagoon area restored a year ago with assistance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program.  Each participant was given a brand new fishing rod and reel to use and take home at the end of the day.  In addition to the angling experience, an archery range was setup and participants were giving instruction and the opportunity to try their hand at shooting a bow and arrow.  This event provided an outdoor recreational experience to those who might not otherwise have the means or opportunity to do so on their own.
