Cake was served for celebrating our 50th anniversary!!

On May 17, 2008 Steve Hawley, Member of Assembly in New York State presented Refuge Manager Thomas Roster with a Citation from the New York State Assembly for Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in recognition of 50 years of conservation as well as "The Iroquois Wildlife Refuge..we have an outstanding organization, one who is worthy of the esteem of both the Community and the great State of New York."

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge was established on May 19, 1958. We have been celebrating this year with additional programs as well as promotional items on the refuge and Refuge System. On May 17, the refuge hosted a special day,  looking back over the history of Iroquois NWR and serving birthday cake and ice cream for visitors. Fifty people attended the celebration for the weekend; these folks included refuge visitors, member of Friends of Iroquois NWR, Inc., refuge volunteers and refuge staff.
