Rio Salado Tempe Safe Harbor Agreement

On April 22, 2008, Earth Day, Region 2 of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service entered into a Safe Harbor Agreement with, and issued a Section 10(a)1(A) Enhancement of Survival Permit to, the City of Tempe for Rio Salado Environmental Restoration Project.  The project is located along the Salt River within the greater metropolitan Phoenix area, Maricopa County, Arizona.  The Agreement and accompanying permit will allow the City to restore 159 acres of riparian and wetland vegetation that will provide habitat benefitting the Yuma clapper rail, southwestern willow flycatcher, and bald eagle while providing coverage for take associated with necessary operation and maintenance activities.
