On April 18, 2008 Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, together with Wallkill River Refuge and the Friends of Great Swamp along with the  Friends of Wallkill River held a joint Annual Volunteer Recognition Event at The Dolce, Basking Ridge, NJ.  Approximately 110 volunteers and guests attended the successful event, including special guest Congressman Rodney P. Frelinghuysen.  Awards were presented to all volunteers for their assistance during the previous year.  Special awards were presented to those with lifetime service of 500, 1500, 2500, 3000 and 5000 hours!  Refuge Outdoor Recreation Planner Tom McFadden was the Master of Ceremonies.  Great Swamp and Wallkill River Refuge Managers presented awards. This year's event was the 22nd for Great Swamp.
