7th Annual Conversations About Conservation With our Legislators - Another Success for the Fox River Watershed!

The Fox River Ecosystem Partnership (FREP) hosted its seventh annual "Conversations About Conservation with our State Legislators" at James Pate Phillips State Park on March 7, 2008.  The featured speakers were State Senators Linda Holmes and Pam Althoff who spoke on the Cool Cities Program and iSpace Initiative.   Remarks were also provided by Jack Darin, director of the Illinois Chapter of Sierra Club.   A signed copy of Dick Young's book Kane County Wild Plants and Natural Areas third edition was presented to State Rep. Pat Reed Lindner in appreciation for her years of support to FREP.   Rep. Lindner is retiring this year.   The event was attended by more than 30 people from the watershed.  This annual event is planned and hosted by the FREP Government Relations Committee and is co-chaired by Jeffrey Mengler of the FWS Chicago Field Office and John Church of the Kendall County Board and University of Illinois Extension Service.
