The Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge held their first ever Wildlife Art Show and Sale on Saturday March 29th.  This event showcased local wildlife artists including painters, photographers, and woodcarvers.

For one day the refuge visitor center was transformed into a wildlife art gallery, with fantastic wildlife portraits and carvings from award winning local artists.  Over 500 people attended the show, and over $4000 in sales were made, with part of the proceeds going to the Friends.

Artists who participated in the show had nothing but positive comments for the Friends, and all want to be part of another show.  Visitors to the show also had highly positive comments, expressing to the Friends that they would love to see a two-day show with more artists.

This event looks like the beginning of a long standing celebration of wildlife and art at Parker River!
