Journal Entry   Back Southern Tip Partnership Receives Governor's Award Northeast Region, April 7, 2008 Print Friendly Version The Southern Tip Partnership, a group including The Nature Conservancy, Virginia Coastal Zone Management, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, recently received the Governor's Environmental Excellence Award in Land Conservation.  The partnership has been working together since 1990, when CZM provided funding for research on delineating the  importance of a migration corridor in the mid-Atlantic region. The partnership has continued with acquiring lands for establishment of a state park, expand other land holdings, including the recent land acquisitions within the Eastern Shore of Virginia NWR and to re-establish migratory habitat on both public and private land holdings within the Southern Tip of the Delmarva Peninsula.  The Partnership has proven how a group can work together to be stronger and more productive as a whole than as the individual parts.  Contact Info: Susan Rice, 757-331-2760, Susan_Rice@fws.gov Send to: From: Notes: ..........................................................................................
